In a clean, fresh and pure hue, Pantone called Brilliant White the new demure colour of the season. And we were definitely on board with that! While designers took various routes of drama, fantasy and even sustainability, one thing was clear. White was the colour of the brave in the new fashion world. Falling under the Macro Trend of Fantasy World, this season white is looking towards the future in all it’s rebellious & peace-loving ways. While Richard Quinn’s runway backdrop unveiled the new world in dreamy lace gowns and face masks, Cecilie Bahnsen’s combined classic tailoring to lace whites and sheer fabrics. Standing true to the season’s pitch, it’s all about being serene in a fierce way. Head to Toe Whiteout Although…

AW 19/20: Winter is Here. And so is Tweed! #NewLaunch

Winter has finally arrived, just like Game of Thrones and we’re all set to conquer the winter, that too, in a new trend! A version of tweed that took over all the ramps and also hearts, it’s all about the Houndstooth weave this season. Winter means layering up, long sleeves, high-necks and thicker fabrics. Given we don’t want to get out of bed, but then there are responsibilities that we Just Can’t ditch. So even though we’ll still be layering up, it doesn’t mean it can’t be as per the latest fashion trend! Adding on the new print cum weave of the season, it’s time for the houndstooth to take over – that too in all it’s monochrome tones. Tweed Treat A part of the Tweed stream, AW 19/20 kicked off with Chanel celebrating the last collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld. A tribute that led many eyes to be welled…

AW 19/20: Checks Fashion 101 #Trendalert

Plaids, Gingham, Argyle, Checker board….there are n number of ways to describe it, but it’s all about one pattern. Can you make a guess? ‘Let the checks take over!’ was definitely the call of this season with ramps and runways flooded with this print. From patchwork to windowpane to even haphazard ones, there were checks on all. This Autumn-Winter 2019/20 checks took the route of remixed heritage, with one end being nostalgic towards the 1990s grunge era (See: Plaid flannel shirts of Nirvana & Pearl Jam) and the other talking to the feminist. From hats to shoes, checks took overall, in just a snap. Runway Checks A special mention to Christian Dior’s collection as they took over the checks print like no other. With plaid trousers, coats, tulle skirts, dresses and even scarves, Maria Grazia Chiuri was on a rampage. And checks were her muse. From plaid to tartan and…

AW 19/20: From Bralettes to Bracelets! #Newlaunch

There’s a whole lot of rebellion and feminism in the air with the new trend in town. It’s all about innerwear as outerwear this Autumn-Winter 2019/20. With modesty and guts, of course. While many fashion trends spoke about climate change, the Bourgeois woman and bringing back classics, there was also one not ready to stay quiet. Under the Slacker Chic macro trend, it’s not about being dainty or shy anymore. With self-expression taking on the stage and the so-called ‘private matters’ of domestic abuse, sexual assaults coming to surface, it’s a loud take on women reclaiming their bodies. Not Here to Hide! Although this trend comes and goes every few years, this season was like no other. One of the earliest rendition of this trend was the movie Easy A (2010), where Emma Stone wears corsets over jeans (and owns it) to defy the high school culture. Apart from that,…

AW 19/20: The Pop Colours Make a Comeback! #Fridayrefresh

Put the neutrals to the side, cause there’s another colour trend on the way! Brighter than the day and the ‘pop’ for all your winter looks, Neon is back in a big and bossy way this season. After all the subtle shades, the call of the ramps and runways turned to ‘Monotone no more’. Saint Laurent dazzled the crown with their black light setting and fluorescent outfits flashing shining bright. From sunglasses to shoes, neon shone through feathers and fur like never before. Christian Cowan added drama with trails, capes and sequin add-ons (plus a retro make-up) for a practical look, like never before. Jacquemus added structured vibes to neon with his version of neon coats that could work for day and night. Balenciaga, Off-White, Marine Serre and Sies Marjan were some of the other designers ready to add on these vibrant and bold colours to their collections. Taking inspiration…

AW 19/20: Strong Meets Strong This Season! #Fridayrefresh

This season continues to be a wardrobe revamp in all their sleeve and shoulder ways. And it’s not even close to being done! From an off-shoulder trend to a powerful one, there’s a whole lot of shoulder play. After playing with sleeves of voluminous sizes and styles, it was time to take on the shoulder with a gender-bending approach. Making a comeback, this trend is a mix of the 80s power suit and graceful feminine touches. Saint Laurent’s collection of both bright and black tones included a touch of grace and drama with cinched waistlines. While on the other hand, Rich Owens dramatic curved shoulders gave a new meaning to power coats. Look at Me Shoulders Exaggerated, extravagant and edgy was the shoulders theme this autumn-winter, making workwear, not just functional but also eye-catchy. With androgynous structures, cutwork, puff sleeves and shoulder pads, there was a whole range of power…

The Making of: Dark Romance Collection! #Storyboard

The atmosphere was dark, with withering roses and a violin cover of Bad Romance playing in the background. Everything had a dark yet romantic touch to it. What was it, you ask? It was the new floral trend of the season. After flowers blooming all over during spring, it was time for the winter garden to show up. And that’s exactly what went down this Autumn-Winter season. Taking a withered yet bloomed touch, it was all about roses, that too, with its thorns. From going all-over on a dark backdrop to a deconstructed look, the dark and broody mood was surely visible in the air. Taking inspiration from the grunge era, this season’s florals had a romantic touch (thanks to the roses) but with a rebellious nature. With a touch of femininity in all it’s fierceness, this season it’s all about standing out.  Here’s how we took this inspiration forward:…

AW 19/20: Slay it with Sleeves This Season! #Trendalert

After all the OTT love for all things black, feathers and neon colours, there’s room for some more, and this season, it’s all about the sleeves! From layers to ruffles to hanging ones, the sleeve has taken over fashion like never before. Whether it was Marc Jacobs version of fabric and feather twirls or Rodarte’s feminine puffed and ruffles of sleeves, there was a whole lot of sleeve love on the ramps. In combination with other trends of the season, sleeves played a part with all the drama it could muster. Dramatic Sleeves Taking inspiration from the 70s era dressing, big sleeves made a comeback this season in their larger-than-life vibe. From bell-shaped, puffed, balloon to cold-shoulder, sleeves took the spotlight with their statement looks. Where J W Anderson combined the sleeve action with plaids and knitted fabrics, Roksanda’s collection was an ode to all bright colours and vibrant looks.…
