Deep-rooted in history, Red represented social status, religious rank and cultural identity, among others. Cultures across the globe have different interpretations for the colour and hold it with the highest of values. The shade was favoured for its chromatic value and considered emotionally intense. Endlessly alluring, Scarlet is passionate, adventurous and energetic. A hue that packs a power punch indeed!
Red-Hot On The Runway
Energetic as it is, Red is a powerhouse on the runway too! Scarlet, Garnet, Maroon and Crimson, designers splashed red all over the ramp this season in head-to-toe monochrome looks.
There was romance in the air at Valentino with their whisper-thin Grecian gowns.
On the other hand, opulence was at its best at Giambattista Valli, and Molly Goddard displayed variously frilled, ruffled and ruched looks. Texture play was the game at Giorgio Armani, whereas Oscar de la Renta volumed up in ballooned silhouettes for graceful gowns that gave off major red-carpet vibes.
Sleek, sophisticated scarlet on trumpet sleeves reigned at Fendi for poised elegance; on the other hand, Sacai had a more casual take on the shade with an oh-so-relaxed feel. At the same time, Etro and Christopher Kane opted for some oversized goodness.
Celebs In Crimson
Celebs, too, are setting the scene ablaze in scarlet! Cate Blanchett shone brightly, and Rosamund Pike glowed dazzlingly in fiery shimmering power suits.
Rising star Olivia Rodrigo took to the stage in a tone on tone ensemble of a matching scarlet sequin set layered with a dreamy sheer caftan dress in tulle.
Dipa Khosla raised some serious volume in a gathered, asymmetrical cape dress, heavy on the layers and frill! While Selena Gomez posed artistic, draped in head-to-toe crimson. B-Town has hopped on this trend train too! From Sonam Kapoor to Priyanka Chopra, Rhea Kapoor, Amyra Dastur, Adaa Khann and more, it’s a raid of Red! Nushrrat Bharuccha plays along with a cheeky mood in a short puffed sleeve dress in hot garnet. In contrast, the Indian fashion goddess and legend Anaita Shroff Adajania looks dapper in a flaming hot suit with white piping and shades to match! It’s the Reign of Red indeed!
