With the inspiration stemming from the dominatrix woman, a strong, independent lady who owns her sensuality and personality, this collection is an ode to female power. A dominatrix is a woman who dominates or exerts power over her subjects through many different elements like tone of voice, speech, attire, sex toys. And an overall demeanour that makes you fall to your feet in submission. The dominatrix-inspired clothing includes everything from leather laden looks to exposed lingerie-inspired clothing or corset-clad fits.
Naturally, this trend had its sexual roots scrutinized by society for decades. But the style of the dome has been accepted in fashion from time to time. And since, Designers like Jean Paul Galtier and Thierry Mugler have been inspired to create some of their most unique looks back in the 90s through this femme fetale vibe. Even Pop culture icons like Megan Fox and Kourtney Kardashian have also embraced the ‘soft-porn’ aesthetics.

This Spring-Summer 2022, the dominatrix looks were prominent on the runway. From Balmain to Mugler, designers were all about woman power! While Jean Paul Galtier embraced its signature bondage styles in contrast lingerie-like garments influenced newcomer Nensi Dojaka. On the other hand, Mugler focused on bodysuits and sexy looks that hugged the curves, whereas Versace was all about some leather-clad fits. As for Rokh, it was a neo-noir dome look, whereas Balmain opted for corseted fits in black.
