The cold season is upon us again! And with it, it brings back the warmth of knits this AW21!
Knitting into the trend
A fall trend that everyone adores is back this season. Knits are warm, comfy, cosy and now even more stylish than ever. After all, it’s sweater weather, and channelling those knitted sweaters, socks, long dresses, and jackets is the chic way of winter. And this Autumn-Winter 2021, it’s a knits festival with a varied range of knits and knots, from the traditional knit pattern to cable knits or bouclé, as seen on turtle-necks, long dresses and even cardigans. This is the trend to relax with and enjoy that hot cup of tea.
Designer’s needle story
Designers too are lovin’ the warm fuzzy feeling of fall that this trend brings. Be it Malene Birger and her super cosy woollen co-ord sets that set the right tone for minimalistic chic or Gabriela Heart and her colourfully vibrant and texture-rich looks. Speaking of rich textures, Acne studio displayed some texture laden looks to love on the runway as well.
While Balenciaga brought about a metallic twist to their cable knits, Altuzarra made sure to keep it chunky with a few clean, chic, and nuanced looks. Monotones were the choice of Jonathan Simkhai, whereas Kenzo and Marc Jacobs opted for some grunge with looks heavy with layers.
Cosy Vibes with the Celebs
Do celebs ever miss out when it comes to the IT fashion statement? Never! And winter wear was as prominent as ever this AW21 with the likes of Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid and even Doja Cat! While Bella and miss Cat both snuggled up with some fuzzy knitted sweaters, with the latter even pairing a cute cap with her look, Dua opted for elegant chic in black and blingy jewellery. Alexandria Daddario warmed up with a hot drink by her side in an egg-shell hued turtle-neck. As for Camila Medes, it was a pleasant blue sky vibe with her pastel cornflower blue look with violet accents.
Fellow Riverdale star Lili Reinhart gets cosy with a hand-knit blue and red jacket with some fur to go and shades to match. Millie Bobbie Brown too cosied up with what looks like a hand-knitted granny sweater (while cuddling with a rabbit and a cute dog that match the warm vibe as well!). Layer game was on point for Gemma Chan in her knitted vest with a pleated skirt and Nina Dobrev in a cardigan and matching beanie. Oh, the winter vibes are strong this year!
B’town, too, kept the comfy vibe going with Aisha Rahmad in her monochromatic scarf clad ensemble, Kriti Kharbandha’s white as snow look and Janhvi Kapoor’s beige sweater dress. Anushka Sharma was snug as a bug in an oversized sweater, while Jacqueline Fernandez got her gold game on with a metallic chorded look.
