This Autumn-Winter 2020/21, the retro aura is back!! The age of yuppies, hip hop, punks, and exercise enthusiasts returned in all its whimsy prints, textures & layerings!! Talking about the ramps, from power suits to preppy styles, everything was in, and it was all about recreating the vintage look with a hint of eccentricity.
Ramps this season were overflowing with the punky and colourful vibe of the 80s. With brilliant use of lines on suits, Alexander McQueen nailed the abstract attitude of the 80s just right. Whereas portraying the oversized shoulder suits and big belts, Balmain created the work-to-caz look of the season.
Another collection, where if the palette read neutral, the silhouette itself was undeniably so at Isabel Marant. Almost every shoulder was cut with an ’80s-inspired line, whether it was vintage-y peasant jackets or spangly black party dresses.
While understanding the reality of the current era, Louis Vuitton subtly incorporated the 80s in the collection. Mugler brought an unmistakably assertive graphic 80s verve. And just when you thought, this trend couldn’t get more groovy, Rodarte’s print and puffed sleeves brought all things retro. On the other hand, Richard Quinn had all the 80s contrasts one need.
Punk Up The Vintage Beat!
Adding that colourful vintage touch to this winter energy, the 80s trend took over all the ramps and runways in a head-to-toe ensemble. From Demi Moore flaunting signature big shoulder, monochrome pantsuit, to Lily Aldridge in her charming polka dot dress, all were vibing to retro style!
From Lucy Hale and Lilly Singh donning 80s signatures in a head-to-toe ensemble to Zendaya and Selena Gomez playing with that hippie stripe nostalgia. These celebs gave way to this revolutionary trend once again!
On the home front, too, the 80s love was all over. From Radhika Madan, Ananya Pandey, and Yami Gautam to Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonakshi Sinha, and Sara Ali Khan, the bold, bright & bombastic 80s kept us gaping in awe.
Hard to miss, Anushka Sharma’s baby bump that broke the news, also came with the legendary polka print style! In short, all close to home were also seen vibing to this eccentric and jolly retro trend.
