With the descending pandemic, an active aura is booming. Have you also taken up this new physical fitness as your new leisure yet? Know more about it and you won’t be able to stop falling in love with it.
This Spring Summer 2021, people across the globe have got two main reasons to embrace this latest trend. One thing that pandemic has taught us all really well is the need to be physically fit. When we are working so hard to be in our best health, why let your fashion be passive? And the second is our affinity towards sweatpants and joggers due to a long quarantine. With cozy and flexy garments becoming our go-to outfits for almost any occasion, this athleisure trend is sure to get the front space in our wardrobes! With at-home work, exercise, and play, the lounging look, sweatpants and even yoga pants the mantra for the season is – aspire to be flexible!
Athleisure as we know it today is almost a century old idea. Back in that era when the outfits were dictated by related events, this sportswear for leisure found its ground. In the late 19th and early 20th century, active garments became prevalent as they gave extra space for free movements. Fast forward to today, when modern-day athleisure is for people who want a one size fits all approach to their wardrobe. Extra action! Extra kick! Full comfort!
The Active Walk!
Along with our lifestyle, this trend of fitness and comfort has made its ground quite strong. Ramps and runways too welcomed the fitness-boom-inspired activewear trend quite beautifully. With Celine’s comfy loose shorts and Rag & Bone’s relaxed joggers, active comfort was the theme. While Moncler JW Anderson gave a colourful punky taste to the free sporty look, Apiece Apart and Zero + Maria Cornejo went with monochrome relaxed co-ords.
David Koma’s entire collection with branded sweatshirts and cycling shorts shouted sports! He included matching zip-fronted Lycra jerseys to take the athleisure idea a notch further. We say – smart move!
While AZ Factory added a colour-blocking tinge to the sporty comfort wear, Thakoon was all about a casual vibe to the relaxed silhouettes. Koche and Brandon Maxwell’s collection was giving the message of active physical fitness – out loud! There was a clear aspect of boldness and fit to both. Miu Miu, Sandy Liang, and Vejas were also playing the fields in this crazy and amazing cocktail of comfort meets workout!
Track-suit it up!
Celebrities are always forerunners in any trend. Then, how can they not be endorsing the message of this all-new active-meets-comfort? From Anya Taylor, Gal Gadot, Hailey Bieber, or Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Romee Strijd, the vibe was all staying-comfy-yet-moving in their own spaces!
Physical fitness hit a high close to home too. With celebrities like Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif, and Bhumi Pednekar being front-runners in physically fit and equally easy fashion. As always, Shilpa Shetty and Malaika Arora were seen flexing in the comforts of their homes. Their outfits hollered relaxed in the most active of movements.
