SS’21: The Soft, Buttery Mood of Pastels! #TrendAlert

Soft as Butter, hues so light, it’s the perfect Summer vibe! Spring-Summer 2021 is back with pastels and we can’t get enough!

Energy is not just a feeling this season; it’s a whole mood. With positivity being the need of the hour, fashion too had it as one of its macro trends. And in its banner, Pastels became one of the highlights with all the ramps, runways, red carpets and even a little streetwear shining in their pretty pastel avatar.

Particular Proclivity for Pastels

The ramps and runways this season did not take pastels in their larger than life forms but with a more relaxed, comfortable and subtle style. With a minimal take on these sorbet hues, it was about adding calm with just the right amount of colour. Clearwater Blue, Baby Pink, Egg-Yolk pastel Yellow, Pressed Rose, Pastel Pepper Stem, Lemon Verbena, and Light Lavender were some hues taking over this season.

The runways were all set to chime in with their styles. From head-to-toe pastels to mismatched ones, every variety was up for grabs. Alberta Ferretti’s collection had all the light touches you need. Pair it with tie-dye, crochet, bralettes or denim – Pastels were all over, and in every casual format, you can think of. Prada and Hermes took the head-to-toe route, with a little print play in action too.

Martin Grant’s collection had a little work-from-home pastel vibe that was both relaxed and fun in a minimal way. Chloe added elegant and delicate details to the collection with lacework additions; meanwhile, Moschino showcased the Barbie way to pastel. With frills, ruffles, bows and even a pantsuit – there was pastel for every occasion.

The Boss collection was even more pantsuit than ever. Head-to-toe colour co-ords was one bit; there were oversized blazers, skirt-suits and pastels for men too. Max Mara took an outerwear approach with pastel trench coats and jackets, all accessorised with cute pastel bags (LOVE!).

Among others, there was Balmain, George Shobeika and even Versace all set to flaunt these sorbet hues for the summer blues!

Pastel is the New Chic

After all the ramp love of pastels, there was red carpet looks for the celebrities too. From Salma Hayek, Hailey Beiber, Jennifer Lopez to Zendaya, Beyonce and Kylie Jenner, these soft hues were setting in the Spring-Summer mood in all it’s comfy aura.

On the homefront too, many celebrities were seen flaunting their pastel moods. While Bhumi Pednekar went with a Goddess like avatar, there was Shraddha Kapoor ready for a swim in the ocean. From Ananya Panday’s satin slinky outfit, Alaya’s award pleats to Aditi Rao Hydari’s baby pink co-ords and Imouni Roy’s beach outfit, pastels were made for anything and everything.

Designer’s Moodboard

Upbeat, optimistic & positive – Pastels this Spring-Summer 2021 were all about adding a soft tinge of colour to your Summer for a calming effect. Clearwater blue, baby pink and very light shade of pepper stem green were the key hues to love this season. Taking inspiration from these soft buttery hues, we’ve created a range in gold & gemstones for a bit of colour play to add to your day in the Sun.
