The most adventurous styling move is here! Spring Summer’2021 is here all armoured in net! Embracing this perfectly comfy yet strong vibe, are you ready to mesh-up?
There is no doubt that a well-placed netting satiates our desires of purely aesthetic pleasures. Whichever way it is worn, this eye candy trend feels just perfect in all sense. This Spring Summer 2021, the netting trend has come back, encasing the silhouette in a joyful style! Not to forget the aesthetic touch of the 1990s.
With the pandemic and many other challenges our way, we the people of the world are in the mood to fight back! Complementing the same, in fashion too we have ‘Fighting Spirit’ as a macro trend this season. And nets are one big highlight under the same, bringing on its armoured vibe!
A variety of nets came into the scene with showgirls of the 1920s as hemlines rose, graduating in the 50s and 60s for women of the bold type! 😉 To subvert the mainstream fashion, punks and goths of the 1970s took control of the meshed tights and became an iconic item of the goth fashion. By the time the 80s came into being, fishnets had graduated to any netted piece of clothing with the pop goddess and fashion icon of the era – you guessed it, Madonna! Exploring the use of netting in tops, gloves, bodysuits, and whatnots, Madonna became THE ideal for net-inspired outfits!
Netting The Ramps
With social meets looking uncertain, the demand for a versatile wardrobe is higher than ever. Welcome – Nets! Why just tights? When you can layer this net drama over bodysuits to almost any type of outfit, you can think of. Don’t believe me? Ask the runways! From subtle to bold, nets this season were all over. Acne studios added a monotoned under-layer to the overall nets. On the other hand, Burberry’s collection was all about playing with mesh layers on coats and jackets. While Marina Moscone went with nets as textile extensions for shirts and dresses, Longchamp was all about ‘fishy’ fishnets as bold skirts!
Chanel’s subtle take on the vintage nettings was the retro-chic style we all needed. Adding as layers to Nanushka’s crochet version, the netty look was lattice leisure to watch.
Hard to miss, Viktor and Rolf’s gothic chic attires had all the Madonna-pop-vibe, while Valentino’s cut-out layers of the modern kind were The addition made for today! Ports 1961 added the net layer with gladiator sandals for a feminine Roman look that we couldn’t stop adoring.
Coming from celebs and back to celebs, the nets have inspired the entire world’s history. With this being a fact, how can celebrities today stay behind from exploring new takes on netting? From Beyonce, Lili Reinhart, Kendall, and Kylie Jenner to Lily Collins, Emily Blunt, and Zendaya, it was time to bare it in nets. With its raw yet chic flexibility, this meshy trend imposed an ultra-contemporary rhythm. Sophia Nahli Allison’s net-cut dress for the red carpet Oscars 2021 was the fashion highlight of the season.
The contemporary stars also embraced nettings with the same boldness and an added edge, keeping the retro-rockstar vibe alive. From Ava Max, Bebe Rexha, to Dua Lipa and Gwen Stefani, all were going netty-naughty with fishnet tight and netted bodysuits.
The celebs back at our home, too, were layering up with these mesh reveals. From Meera Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez to Shruti Hassan, Neha Sharma, and Mouni Roy, there was net everywhere – head-to-toe and even accessories.
