The 2021 Academy awards are here with the much-needed fashion punch. Hollywood elite delivered their fashion prowess to the fullest on the Oscars red carpet. Are you ready to binge on this glamour flow?
With most of the last year slugging around in loungewear and slippers, fashion had only one arena to play. It was hard to remember what real-life glamour Actually looks like with head-to-toe comfort fashion in the play. But, but – The red carpet season dawned on us! And brought back all the glamour (even with virtual events) at its best! And the latest in – Oscars! – Coming in with a powerful dose of Hollywood glitz, glamour, and sartorial splendour that we’ve all been starving for. Unlike most award ceremonies that happened with Zoom appearances, the Oscars encouraged the real presence of guests (limited, of course) – all donned up in THE Red Carpet look and much-needed fashion punch!

The 93rd Academy Awards was held at Union Station in Los Angeles instead of its usual venue, the Dolby Theatre. Keeping the safety of everyone on importance, the authorities limited the audience to 170. The attendees were rotated in and out throughout the ceremony. All this meant for the fashion fans like us was one exciting thing – A proper Red carpet! And a chance to check out the fashion statements of our favourite actors.

#12. Marlee Matlin

Marlee Matlin, one of the presenters at the 2021 Oscars, was one of the best-dressed celebs to walk the red carpet. She definitely turned heads in her jacquard-print Vivienne Westwood gown. The highlight of the look was the long split sleeves that touched the floors. Talk about sweeping us away.

#11. Celeste Waite

The 26-year-old singer-lyricist glided across the red carpet wearing a custom Gucci black silk crêpe dress with red and black fringe work. With a bit of lace, fringe and a lot of Black, there was an eerie-in-a-good-way vibe to her look. The highlight of her ensemble? – The anatomical human heart novelty clutch in her hands. That was a ‘heart-y’ move! Pun intended.

#10. Regina King

Regina played comfort, glam and statement, all-in-one with her exaggerated shoulders and neckline on her duchess-satin Louis Vuitton curve-hugging gown. With a Butterfly silhouette, floor-sweeping silver and a blunt bob had all the – Here to Save the World aura. She complimented her look with matching diamond bracelets, rings and earrings.

#9. Vanessa Kirby

Keeping it light yet high-fashion, Vanessa walked the red carpet wearing a custom Gucci pink silk gown. With a deep sweetheart’s neckline and a train, it was The way to do chic – with minimalism. She also went minimal with her accessories. Adding on only a diamond necklace, her fashion statement was quite visible.

#8. Trish Summerville

Costume designer Trish Summerville’s red-carpet look was a view worth remembering. With a ‘Go sleek with Black’ motto, she wore a black and grey gown with an asymmetrical pattern. Taking colour block to another level, it was the mix-matched accessories that added all the layers.

#7. H.E.R

In Dundas purple beaded jumpsuit with a long head-cover-cum-train, Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, better known as H.E.R., had a look that was comfy and glam at the same time! When Jasmine meets Rapunzel, this is the outfit to be! With purple round eyewear and chic diamond jewellery, she sizzled her way across Oscars with all the grace and panache of a princess.

#6. Amanda Seyfried

Make way for red Swan ’cause Amanda Seyfried is here! Decked up in an elegant Giorgio Armani strapless tulle ball gown, Amanda! #5. Angela Bassett

Red was definitely the colour of the season. Like many stars, Angela Bassett also walked the red carpet with a stunning cherry red gown complete with exaggerated puffed sleeves and a pair of silver stiletto sandals. She went for a plain bracelet, a big motif ring, long earrings, all in diamonds for jewellery. Talk about all wrapped up in a bow!

#4. Andra Day

Metallic was another red carpet favourite this season! And with all the sass, Andra Day was nailing the high-slit Vera Wang dress like no other. Complementing the perfect combo of skin and gold, it was THE outfit that said – comfort for the Summer and Party too. Paired with diamond jewellery and a matching clutch, Andra Day was the futuristic-yet-Roman goddess of gold.

#3. Margot Robbie

Just in: Margot’s red-carpet style is here! The first thought that crossed our mind – she woke up like this. And made us swoon with her look, of course. With her custom gunmetal Chanel gown with bountiful floral work in metallic lace, her style was effortless, chic and feminine, wrapped up like a candy wrapper. She accessorised it with a Chanel bag, diamond jewellery as subtle additions that completed the look. BRB, looking for a metallic floral outfit.

#2. Carey Mulligan

Our #2 on the list, Carey Mulligan, went Viva le Vida in all its grandeur! With a gold sequin outfit with a bandeau top and a billowy full skirt, the combination was subtle yet chic. Vibing with a modern yet retro touch, it was the ideal red-carpet addition. Pairing it with subtle jewellery and hair tied back, who said you couldn’t go gold and bold?

#1. Zendaya

Bringing in the sunny Summer vibe, Zendaya slayed the carpet with her bright yellow custom Valentino gown. This bandeau bodice and high-waisted skirt with a train, although subtle, brought out the flash of happiness that we all needed to see. And with this solid shade, Zendaya added royalty with layered Bulgari diamond jewellery and long hair flowing in the wind for a flawless Summer outfit. Best Dressed Special Mentions for Oscar 2021

Viola Davis

Viola Davis looked phenomenal in Alexander McQueen’s curve-hugging white gown. The cutout bodice design added a subtle lace play to the chiffon gathered skirt that was ready to flow in the wind – It was the light Summer aura that was dazzling us all.

Laura Pausini

If we were to mention, who did the classics best? It would be Laura Pausini. In a classic black off-the-shoulder gown, her outfit was subtle and ever-glowing. And how can we forget, it also had pockets! Now THAT’s a wow comfy-cool vibe we can finally get aboard on.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry arrived like a butterfly too! Floating in her soft purple Christian Louboutin gown, she was all about standing out on the red carpet. Flaunting the big bow on the front, a new bob cut hairstyle and super minimal jewellery, it was quite a fashion statement to adore.

Maria Bakalova

Maria Bakalova gave us a magical look for this very magical red carpet! Adorning a white Louis Vuitton ‘fairy tale meets ballet’ gown, Maria Bakalova was floating on the red carpet, and with all the swirl and twirl too! Reminding us of whipped cream, this tulle-full of dress was the definition of artful fun. Accessorising her outfit with beautiful diamond jewellery, it was a white affair to remember.
