Fashion has always stood strong and vocal in all aspects. With the pandemic continuing to shake the world peace and being a daily challenge, this SS’21, the artists and designers around the globe chose to seek out the fighting spirit. Joining hands and helping each other, is the only way to cope and come out of these fearful times. And what can depict the colours of power and camaraderie better than the colour of military – Khaki! Camouflaging to the khaki print and waging a war on the pandemic is the vibe of the season! 

Fashion Camouflage!

With the ramps and runways radiating with collective strength, pride, and camaraderie, the aura was brimming Khaki! While Rokh raised an all female army decked up in the camouflage tone, Altuzarra went simple. One went with camo-collars, sleeves, and bodices, the other with comfy and free flowing garments nipped at the waist using belts, fabric ties and chains. It sure did bring all the old war vibes! The use of button seams in Max Mara’s collection was the highlight of their portrayal of ‘She-roes’ striding out against all odds in the world. 

 

Inspired by last season’s safari jacket obsession, the utilitarian trend has become synonymous with Khaki outfits. Add on an all new high function vibe saying ‘Back to basics’! The idea of finding joy and comfort in simple things seems camouflaged with the spirit of fighting back! (Check out the fighting back ‘Activism’ trend that is all about being vocal!)

From Art School’s uniform jackets to Facetasm’s relaxed fits and cuttings, runways were a notch ahead of the typical military style! Celine collection was all about reimagining the typical silhouettes. Energizing XL pockets, multiple cargo pockets, novel zip closures combined with camouflage prints was the idea. Dion Lee was simply boho’s camaraderie with the military! Hermes and DSquare’s subdued classic khaki outfits had a feminine waist touch to the otherwise masculine silhouette. Sacai paired the outfits with Combat knee length boots paired endowing an Amazonian feminine vibe! 

Luisa Spagnoli’s classic Military hue and Louis Vuitton’s camouflage print to metallic colour was a retro take on futurism!

Celeb Regiment

Celebs all around decked up to the Khaki! From Kim Kardashian, Ashley Graham, to Kylie Jenner, it was ready to fight back spirit with camouflage print. While Jennifer Lopez and Bella Hadid went with the classic Military monochrome to show their fashion vibing with grit! Kamala Harris is her classic Khaki jacket created a whole new case to follow.

At the home front too, the spirit of camaraderie was never the less! While Tapsee Pannu was full-on military in her Olive Green jacket, cargo pants and boots, Yami Gautam’s uniform suit was giving a resting amid war vibe. Shilpa Shetty and Tara Sutaria were talking Khaki – aloud!

Evolving from the fighting spirit & the meaning of togetherness, the ramps translated the Army look of practical, bold-yet-teamed vibe into a new way to casual. Taking inspiration from this, we, too, created a range in gold with Khaki green tones & Satin and high polish finishes for a Unity in Green aura.
