After the Oscars, Golden Globe, Met Gala, it was finally time to revel at Cannes! With celebrities bringing on their A-game yet again, it was a festive & fashion mood in all its Spring Summer glory.
Whether it was about shining under an umbrella or flaunting all those pleats in your skirt, this year’s Cannes surely had a twirling effect. With pastel day dresses to all over ruffles, the red carpet portrayed a quick glimpse of the Spring Summer runways. As multiple outfit changes were seen, we were definitely jaw-dropping with each! And we’re sure so were you! From Deepika’s massive reign of ruffles to Coral swirls and pin-striped outfits, the parade was on.
Glancing through these over-the-top, flowy, lacy and sequined looks, it was a task to pick up the best of the best! And we are definitely in a dilemma. After massive vote casting around Melorra, these were some of our top picks of this year’s Cannes:
Did anyone call for Lace? Well, with this SS’19 trend taking the reins, there wasn’t much scope to miss this one! From a complete look like Kangana’s and Romee Strijid’s to the subtle addition in Chloe Sevigny’s ensemble, there was something for all!
Pastels are back! And with a bang. With this SS’19 trend, Spring Summer became a whole lot colourful, minimal and Oh-So-Chic! While Elsa Hosk reminded us of cotton candies and ice cream, Priyanka’s jumpsuit was the perfect day look for any vacation and we Want it!
Make way for Ruffles, please! Though there were a lot of celebs sporting this look, Bella Hadid and Huma Qureshi were definitely the ones nailing it. From sleek tiers to cascading ones, the All Dolled Up trend is all about Evening Extravaganza.
A touch of pastel with a border of feathers, we’ve all seen the Feather Up look Everywhere. And we got a glimpse at Cannes too! From Araya Hargate’s pastel + colourful feathers to Diana Penty’s ruffle + sequin + beige love, it was a blend of chic and trend that was totally on point.
Hello, Colour of the Year! With Living Coral being Pantone approved (See: Aja Naomi King killing it), there are also shades like Yellow and Sand which are a big hit. Bella Hadid’s ensemble was as jaw-dropping as Elle Fanning’s sepia one, that made us all sit down. On the other hand, Eva Longoria’s pant-suit was an absolute hit for a day look. If you need any inspiration for day looks, this is the one to go for – Comfort+Style – Check!
How can there be a red carpet look without flowers? And this was no exception. Yet again, Elle Fanning decides to go all out and pick up a plunging neckline with complete headgear and sheen that was just grabbing all the attention. Who said you can’t perfect more than one outfit?
Deepika’s pin-striped pantsuit was a 10/10 for us! With a contrasting orange colour block, this ensemble has made us add a new point to our wardrobe wishlist.
The red carpet is not complete with a few sequined looks and there’s Penelope Cruz to floor us with it. With a subtle yet completely sequined dress, the uneven hemline and the boat neck combination was the perfect go-to that we all want now.
Off-shoulder and half n half, Eva Longoria was slaying the red carpet with Alberta Ferretti’s blush sequin gown. With pleats, knots and an absolutely stunning feel, it’s all about being a showstopper!
An Ode to Monochrome – An underlying theme of this year’s Cannes red carpet was pretty visible all around. With head-to-toe black & white (see Shailene Woodley – The chic Dior), lace additions (Julianne Moore – Loving it!), quilt effects (Selena Gomez – ensemble to bookmark) and short-suits (Shailene Woodley’s white-collar literally), there was one of all in black and white!
Though there were many many more outfits to look out for this Cannes season, the Spring Summer 2019 trends were evident in them all. Giving us a lot of wardrobe goals for this season and outfits we are soon going to search for, there’s a whole lotta inspiration that we were craving for! So get set and find the trend you’re in love with!
Meanwhile, as we are getting inspired by these trendy looks for our new collections, here are the Spring Summer 2019 trends we’ve created so far!
