Undaunted, fearless and determined is what this trend is all about! Zips are Autumn-Winter 2021’s newest love affair. From sleek metallic zippers that add an elegant touch to chunky ones that add a flair, it’s a bit zippy in the fashion world this season. These nifty little trims fulfil the function of being a fastener and offer a style-forming element. Transformative as ever, zips are Autumn-Winter 2021’s quintessential add-on.
Designer’s zip and zoom
Of course, the fashion world has to experiment with the latest IT element of AW21. From Alexander McQueen’s leather laden looks to Jacquemus’ colour blocking, zippers were evident on every kind of silhouette. Like Moschino added multitudes of zips to retro-esque clothing and even accessories, or Nina Ricci’s precise tailoring was paired with the magic of zippers to accentuate. On the other hand, Schiaparelli went OTT as usual with their surrealistic elements and an abundance of zips. And not to forget Cristian Cowan, who added some zipper flair to his flared trousers for some chic edge.
Celebrity zip with style
The celebs jumped aboard this chain trend too. Sofia Boutella channelled some grunge factor with an A-line black leather dress, heavy on the zips. While Squid Games star HooYeon Jung opted for a modest leather look in a matching jacket and skirt and of course, zippers. Taraji P Henson styled her zipped look with a pop of colour in yellow. Talking of colour, Laura Dern was ravishing in an emerald, neck-to-hem zipped dress! And Emily Ratajkowski was all zipped up in an oversized brown biker jacket.
B’Town, too was in on the trend. With Ahana Kumar pairing a chunky zip with denim on denim love. At the same time, Goenka Anupriya chose a sporty chic look with a coffee leather jacket with zipped pockets. On the other hand, Kriti Kharbanda added a bit o’ flash in a shiny pink jacket and plenty of zippers!
