SS ’20: The Return of the Vintage Denim! #TrendAlert

Flared, bootcut, bell-bottomed, straight, are no longer only about the 70s, but about Spring-Summer 2020 too! Denim is making a comeback this season and that too, in all it’s vintage style.

Go head-to-toe this SS20 with the denim trend ’cause it’s back in all it’s retro styling. From vintage washes, 70s flares, cropped culottes, shorts to classic jackets and washed-out blues, denim is all about being effortlessly cool, and we can’t get enough!

Indigo on the Go!

The shade of the season? – Indigo was seen raging across all the ramps and runways. Celine’s collection, which was basically an ode to classic dressing, incorporated denim shirts with extra-long wide jeans and tasselled bags. Reminding us a little of ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ and even ‘Grease’, there were long blazers, boots and even suede jackets. Chanel, on the other hand, played with ruffles and lace additions. Alberta Ferretti, while included tie-dye, also played with shades of denim and added textured prints to his collection.

If denim was all about winning hearts – Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini was definitely nailing it! While the background score of ‘Irresistible’ by Princess Stephanie was playing, the collection was totally in sync with it. From pleats, woven denim tweed, jumpsuits to corsets with embroidery, there was every kind of denim. For every type of occasion. If Lorenzo was about the texture, Balmain was all about the colour. In bright, vibrant tones, it was a denim colour play to remember.

Isabel Marant too was riding the denim train with raw, frayed edge denim shorts, while IRO was set to go vintage with monotone pairings and denim washes. From Ulla Johnson’s layered denim, Sportmax’s culottes and Bolero jackets to Tiziano Guardini’s sustainable denim and Brandon Maxwell’s retro shirt-denim pairing, one thing was clear. That denim was coming back in a big way and in every possible way.

Gucci, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Bottega Veneta too, were flaunting their denim inspiration in all shades of blue.

 Stay Effortless in Denim

After all the ramp love for the vintage denim, the celebrities too were ready to show off their happy, practical and confident looks. From Kate Hudson’s jumpsuit, Alicia Keys day in the Sun, Beyonce’s monotone pantsuit to Gigi Hadid’s short-suit and Kylie Jenner’s denim pleats, there was all kinds of styling.

On the other hand, the celebs were stealing hearts on the home ground too. From Priyanka Chopra’s princess moment, Diva Dhawan, Kriti Sanon and Alaya’s day look to Sanya Malhotra, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shruti Hassan and Kiara Advani, there was denim everywhere. You name the place, and there’s a denim pair seizing the moment.

So while this trend was stealing hearts and wardrobe spaces for all our celebrities and us, we HAD to make it a part of your jewellery box too! But what did we do? Are you ready for it?

Stay Tuned to find out!

It’s time for a little Carpe De-nim this Spring-Summer 2020!
