This season brought us a whole lot of rebellion with women empowerment being talked about all across. And joining this talk, was our dear friend, bows, in an all new avatar. The bow has always been known to showcase femininity, romance and a ladylike feature to any woman who wore it. But this time around, Autumn-Winter 2019/20 was bringing us a whole new version of it – thanks to Donald Trump and his blatant statements on women and sexual assault. Opposing those statements, women all around the world, embraced the bow in a new format, calling it a Pussy Bow and making it a lot more versatile, bold and ready to represent the 21st century. Autumn – Winter 19/20: The Trends & The Mood of the Season!

Autumn Winter 2019 has brought in two poles of fashion together, just like a mixed bag of chocolates. Let’s explore what it has in store for us, shall we? On one side, designers were paying homage to the not-so-discreet lavishness of the French Bourgeoisie, while on the other, the punk spirit could be felt in the air. Laughing at conventions and rousing the silhouettes of the ‘femme rebelle’, in all their punk connotations. However, both these opposing inspirations had one common denominator – they talked about breaking the mould of an ideal woman and celebrating what she is today. The Talking Point The 70s, 80s and 90s moods are surely coming together this season in all their old-school glory. While, on the other hand, the designers and international runways were also speaking about the world’s ongoing social and environmental concerns. Genderless fashion also became a most-talked-about point both front and…

AW 19/20: The Knits in Shining Armour! #FridayRefresh

Winter has set in and with it, our wardrobes are changing massively and so are the ramps! After all the colour pop and OTT things, it’s time for some super-cosy, homely and supersized vibes. Can you guess the trend? Supersized was the call of the runways after all the work and party needs were satisfied. In oversized forms and chunky weaves, knitwear took over all casual wear in all its grandeur. The supersized knits fashion took the front row when Lenny Kravitz stepped out with his shawl cum blanket scarf. The internet exploded, and so did the fashion trend. From cutwork to oversized sweaters, ponchos to colour-blocked knits, there was a whole lotta knit to see! Knit, Knit Everywhere… Designers were all set to dazzle us with their knit interpretations, and of course, they didn’t let us down. M Missoni’s collection gave us serious knit goals with their ribbed weave…

AW 19/20: From Bralettes to Bracelets! #Newlaunch

There’s a whole lot of rebellion and feminism in the air with the new trend in town. It’s all about innerwear as outerwear this Autumn-Winter 2019/20. With modesty and guts, of course. While many fashion trends spoke about climate change, the Bourgeois woman and bringing back classics, there was also one not ready to stay quiet. Under the Slacker Chic macro trend, it’s not about being dainty or shy anymore. With self-expression taking on the stage and the so-called ‘private matters’ of domestic abuse, sexual assaults coming to surface, it’s a loud take on women reclaiming their bodies. Not Here to Hide! Although this trend comes and goes every few years, this season was like no other. One of the earliest rendition of this trend was the movie Easy A (2010), where Emma Stone wears corsets over jeans (and owns it) to defy the high school culture. Apart from that,…

The sleeves are going gaga this season in all their dramatic, voluminous and bold styles and we can’t get enough! Gone are the prints and the plaids, now it’s all about the sleeve play. With oversized sleeves in puff, balloon, ruffles and even shoulder pads, there was a lot of sleeve talk around town. From Khaite’s ruffled layers, Balenciaga’s solid hues to Y Project’s take on patchwork and even simplicity, this time it was all about being bold with a touch of minimalism. Confused? Here’s what the trend is about – showing off the minimal look with just a little drama. With a different take, this time sleeves are continuous with minimum embellishment. For example, Fendi’s pantsuits comprising of bishop sleeves with structured patterns, creating a contrast in a subtle…

AW 19/20: 8 Types of Must-Have Sleeves of the Season! #trending

Coming together with the Autumn winter vibe, 2019 has been focusing all its trend energy on one thing – Sleeves. Autumn-winter 2019/20 fashion was a whole lot of colour and sobriety, with designers favouring the 70s, 80s and 90s fashion. However, the theme remained the same for everyone – Celebrating the woman of today, minus all requirements. And with this, shoulders and sleeves became the point of emphasis for everyone. Whether it was with a dramatic length or exaggerated high shoulders, there was a whole lot of sleeve play this season. Fabrics took a backseat this season with the design taking the front row, in all shapes and sizes. No longer was there one sleeve option out of many prints anymore. The design world had reversed its inspirations and gave us a whole lot to choose from. Here’s what the designers presented us with and how celebrities took over with…

After playing with sleeves of voluminous sizes and styles, it was time to take on the shoulder with a gender-bending approach. Making a comeback, this trend is a mix of the 80s power suit and graceful feminine touches. Saint Laurent’s collection of both bright and black tones included a touch of grace and drama with cinched waistlines. While on the other hand, Rich Owens dramatic curved shoulders gave a new meaning to power coats. Look at Me Shoulders Exaggerated, extravagant and edgy was the shoulders theme this autumn-winter, making workwear, not just functional but also eye-catchy. After all the craze for drama, theatrics and all things volume, the Autumn Winter 2019/20 took a new turn towards an uber-cool, effortless trend. Easy to don and even easier to pick up, it’s all about off-shoulders. Baring the shoulders this season, the sexy-meets-sweet trend took a new turn and came up with an edgier format than before. Combined with mega-sized sleeves or a lopsided look, the focus lay on the neckline. From Caroline Herrera’s all bright and sunny print ones to Zimmermann’s ruffled edges and scarf prints, there was a whole lot of shoulder play on the ramps. The trend saw many translations this season, from one off-shoulder to lazy drop shoulders, that complemented the casual as well as the party vibe.
