The Spring Summer 2019/20 is here in all its glory. And it’s taking us back to the jungle on an expedition!
After the roar of the Animal Print in the 2018 Autumn Winter season, there’s a new ‘trek’ that is inspiring global designers. Kicking off the Spring Summer 2019/20 with a trip to nature, it’s all about combining utility and style – in one chic ensemble. A blend of Sports and Nature themes, this trend introduces a new take on being functional in fashion.
Inspired by nature and the era of sports, fashion leaders brought together flowy silhouettes with structured lines and patterns. Defining a bit of both, there was a whole range of asymmetric designs that included neutral colour tones and accessories. While Fendi showcased his collection of earthy tones and tropical prints, there was Alberta Ferretti combining cargo pants (with ample pockets we must say!) and lace blouses.
The Accessory Craze!
The Spring Summer 2019 onset was not only about clothes but also relied heavily on accessories. The accessories were tied together with oversized bags and belts for an essential firm fitting add-on. Oversized parkas, cargo pants, dungarees, overcoats, there was a whole range of clothing to suit the woman who wants both fashion and function! Just like the needs of a jungle safari, essentials to be kept in pockets.
Creating a mix of sophistication and adventure, this trend was about the outgoing woman who likes the best of both worlds. Featuring in tones like Olive Green, Camel, and Beige, it has an air of femininity with bold metallic elements. Where Givenchy showed off their pantsuits transformation into leather parkas and jumpsuits, Loewe’s colour block and straight silhouettes took everyone by surprise.
The Trend Divas
After the ramps were taken over by the colours of all things Earth, the fashion divas were not too far behind. From Karlie Kloss playing it cool to Priyanka Chopra ready to go for a safari, the trend took over the streets. Numerous influencers were not only flaunting their fit-and-flare dresses in camel shades but also oversized trousers in shades of Olive Green.
