Before we bid farewell to the Autumn Winter 2018-19 fashion, we decided to take just One Last Peek into it! And that’s what we have for the last stand – Tweed!
After all the glitter, glam and OTT fashion of the AW 18/19, there was a shift in the air and it was time to get down to business (literally). Moving the focus towards the woman of power, confidence and sophistication, the workwear trend came back in all its glory, with a twist of Tweed to it. Call it tartan, gingham, checks, plaids or herringbone design, tweed was all over the ramps from pantsuits to skirts.
The fashion connoisseurs couldn’t have enough and created from firm-fitting pantsuits to oversized coats that were meant for the woman who liked to be the trendsetter. Where Marc Jacobs and Fendi picked up oversized coats and power shoulders, Christopher Kane and Emilia Wickstead were all about floor-length trench coats and high-waist pants to add a modern twist to an ‘80s inspiration.
All About the Ramps
A symbol of female unity and empowerment, Power became the keyword for the Milan aesthetes. While, on the other hand, London showcased the British fabrics in all its royalty. A contrast focusing on the current social movements, the voice of the women could be heard loud and clear on all the ramps and runways of the world. Where Derek Lam and Chanel exhibited ponchos, trench coats and monochrome pantsuits, Versace, Anna Sui and Michael Kors paraded their bold colour effects withholding nothing. After all, it’s the era of the woman.
The Power Woman
After the ramps and runways were taken over by Tweed, the divas were not far behind in taking this trend forward. From Rihanna’s monochrome pantsuit to Kylie Jenner’s cool-cas take with an oversized coat, plaids are surely here to stay. On the home ground, our celebrity fashionistas were not too far behind too. Whether it was Priyanka Chopra or Deepika Padukone, one thing was clear – Power Dressing has a new definition.
All About the Tweed Trend Trend: Classic Tweed Season: Autumn Winter 2018-19 Macro Trend: Madame From jumpsuits, flared skirts to patchwork coats and oversized jackets, tweed is a print that could work with basically anything. A trend evolving from the concept of power dressing, this year it was about adding some colour and flair to this classic woven structure. From neon pink to bold purples, it was a blend of colour and checks that were created not just for work, but also for the after work plans of the modern woman. From being a well-fitted suit to a floor-length coat, this trend symbolizes and celebrates the endurance and strength of women. Archetype
