After all the craze for drama, theatrics and all things volume, the Autumn Winter 2019/20 took a new turn towards an uber-cool, effortless trend. Easy to don and even easier to pick up, it’s all about off-shoulders.
Baring the shoulders this season, the sexy-meets-sweet trend took a new turn and came up with an edgier format than before. Combined with mega-sized sleeves or a lopsided look, the focus lay on the neckline. From Caroline Herrera’s all bright and sunny print ones to Zimmermann’s ruffled edges and scarf prints, there was a whole lot of shoulder play on the ramps.
The trend saw many translations this season, from one off-shoulder to lazy drop shoulders, that complemented the casual as well as the party vibe. Prada took a complete off-shoulder look with an edgier look combining it with solids and even floral prints that complemented the gothic feel of the season. From Albert Ferretti’s lopsided ruffled sleeves to Jason Wu’s layered gown, this trend became an easy fit into all.
Celebs with the lazy yet casual vibe
After taking over the ramps, the celebs were up to grab this trend in their own styles. Whether it was Zendaya’s floral and white red carpet looks or Elle Fanning’s Marc Jacobs rendition in print, there was a lot of slaying going around. From Mandy Moore, Diane Kruger, Dakota Johnson to Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit, the celebs were set to grab attention – red carpet and otherwise. One of our favourites, Priyanka Chopra’s fringe + drop shoulder. The apt way of saying, ‘Oh, I just styled to pick up my coffee.’
