“Elegant, but with a touch of eccentricity—and wildness!” – Sophie Delafontaine couldn’t have made it clearer what fashion and fringe this season was going to be about!
With Longchamp’s 70th birthday, all eyes were on this fashion label to dazzle us with their shine – and so they did. Picking up the SS19 love of Fringe and bringing back the 70s to us – It was time to lead to the dancefloor. With the ramps filled with fringes on leather, shrugs, skirts, fringe dresses and gladiator sandals, fringe was everywhere. A celebration that was all about twirling, it was a swaying treat for the eyes.
The Fringe Mixology
The motto of this season’s silhouette, fringe had a breakthrough with all its knots and loops to add on a hand-made feel to it. Seen in all formats, fringe became a part of all clothing, whether it was like embellishment or completely layered up. From Ralph and Russo’s disco-strand bottoms (that was the crowd favourite) to Giorgio Armani and Roberto Cavalli’s printed fringe, the dance vibe was evident.
Bringing out the edgy look, Tom Ford’s monotone fringe paired with animal print slayed the runways. With each strand showing off its movement, the Flapper fashion was surely making a comeback. Marking the Roaring Twenties with a mix of novelty and modernity, fringing for Spring Summer was a Bohemian take that shouldn’t be missed out.
Adding another layer to the fringe, Area brought out the macramé and crocheted side in all its glory. With a layering on top of classic clothing, the sparkly threads were making us swoon. Oscar de la Renta, Givenchy and Zuhair Murad also decided to take the glam path and created the perfect fringe for any and all evenings. From white, black and silver, evenings have never looked more glamorous. Even if it’s to binge watch a season in your home. Who says a glam dress and a glass of wine is overdoing it? (Think: Sex and the City)
After all the evening wear needs, fringe wasn’t done yet. Adding the beach vibe to this trend, the designers went ahead and matching it for all vacation plans. Creating the subtle knit vibe, fashion enthusiasts like Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Chanel and Jacquemus brought out the Sun, Sand and Sea air to us. Inspired by the French Riviera Jacquemus nailed the perfect handbag for those swimming costumes.
TGIF – Thank God It’s Fringe!
We’re calling it. Fringe is surely the crowd favourite this season. From all red carpet looks to Oscar after-party ones, this trend was the perfect pick. From Gemma Chan, Sandra Oh, Jennifer Lopez to Hailey Beiber, Brie Larson and Amandla Stenburg, this trend was taking over all wardrobes in the west. On the homefront, Karishma Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Malaika Arora were taking the lead.
