Spring Summer has been a combination of all things bright, cheery and fun and it is definitely not ready to stop just yet! With the talks of head-to-toe all around the globe – Pastels is the new all over this season.
Coming back this season, the colour trend has taken a subtler form in all its light, relaxed and warm feels. Changing the flow of mixed pastels last season, this year it was about going head-to-toe in one shade. While Alberta Ferretti’s mix of lace and pastel showcased the perfect casual pair up, Rodarte’s flair for ruffles and femininity was in hues that could melt any heart. And the heat.
Blumarine wasn’t too far behind in this trend either. Picking up the baby pink shade of the season, their flowy dresses were an ode to joy. This subtle fashion trend included lighter hues like Clearwater Blue, Baby Pink, Egg-Yolk Yellow, Pepper Stem and Light Lavender that remind us of summer and warm vibes. Erdem’s choice of blue combined the structured silhouettes of the old with the season’s trends. On the other hand, there was Badgley Mischka experimenting with all the subtle hues to create outfits that were making us hold our breaths.
While Diane von Furstenberg also picked up the baby pink hue to create a power suit that truly calls feminism in all its forms, Simone Rocha’s inspiration lay in the Tang Dynasty with veiled hats over pastel hues. A.W.A.K.E’s collection was a true testament to a little-work-little-play mode with open-bell sleeves and nipped waistlines, while Givenchy created an iconic moment with his pastel blue dress in pleats. Georges Shobeika, JW Anderson, Chanel and Tibi were some of the other fashion enthusiasts who took over the ramps with all shades pastels.
Pastel N Proud
When the ramps were going gaga over pastels, the celebrities didn’t need calling. And that too, right in time for all the red carpet season! From Met Gala to Cannes, pastels were seen all across the carpet. Elle Fanning was a true pastel ambassador as she flaunted her style on the Cannes red carpet in various hues (Also her 21st birthday celebration). Priyanka Chopra also took the pastel blue shade into the sun while she paired it with all white accessories. A perfect blend for Cannes, red carpet and the sunny days, there was a lot going on.
The royalty wasn’t far behind in accepting this colour trend either. Kate Middleton’s ensemble of pastel yellow from hat to toe was a clear win. Alia Bhatt, Pixie Lott, Lily James, Jennifer Lawrence, Sophie Turner, Kendall Jenner were some of the other celebrities flaunting their very own shade of pastel this Spring-Summer. Whoever said pastels weren’t a part of this season was surely wrong.
