For the Love of All Things Tropical! #TrendAlert

The climate is changing all around us every day. And with it, we forget a little more of what our environment is for us. This Spring-Summer 2020 let’s remember together, shall we?

Celebrating the beauty that is our environment, this summer fashion took a turn to speak for our rainforests, oceans and everything wilderness. A revolution that began in the 1960s made a comeback this season to raise awareness and to urge us all to take a more sustainable path. Designers all across were presenting their takes on this evergreen trend. Versace’s show was a highlight with Jennifer Lopez closing the show. Strutting across the ramp, she wore an updated version of her 2000 Grammy’s print outfit. A true ode to upcycling and recycle, her tropical choice was THE trend of the season.

 The Tropical Ramp Thunder

While Versace was clearly on a throwback with fern print coats, pantsuits and whatnots, Noir Kei Ninomiya brought forward the OTT way of green. With fern headgear, leafy-green fringes and moss-like textures, it was like we were a part of the jungle around us. The show not only held a visual play of greens but smelt of petrichor & new beginnings. Now that’s a ‘tropical’ rage!

Dolce & Gabbana too were all set with their Go for Green theme animal and plant prints. From birds, zebras to pineapples and flowers, there was an abundance of rainforest things. The duo also made sure to add every summer silhouette you’ll ever need. From pantsuits, snake print skirts, trench coats and summer dresses, spring was surely going to be a whole lot greener.

While D&G’s show had the fun casual take, Valentino presented a more refined collection. In straight pleated dresses and modest gowns, there were both animal and leaf motifs in a wide array of colours. From pinks to sunset oranges and embroidered styles, it was a visit to the jungle.

Christian Dior too, went all out with their green theme with trees adorning the runways and models weaving through. Marni’s collection showcased the beauty of the wilderness using upcycled materials and floral headdresses. Meanwhile, Giorgio Armani endorsed the beauty of the beach in all shades of blue with palm prints and fringes. Fendi too played with this tropical print while going head to toe, with hats, shorts and all thing summer.

The Tropical Limelight

With the ramps and runways being covered in green, it was time for the green warriors to join the cause. And they did too with all their Bravada! From Laura Dern, Michelle Dockery and Kaitlyn Dever’s red carpet look to Billie Eilish’s Vogue cover look, it was all about the tropical print this season. Kendall Jenner, Beyonce, Normani, Elva Ni, Anushka Sharma, Chitrangda and Alaya were all ready to take on this print for their summer looks.
