AW 20/21: The Mood of the Winter Blooms! #TrendAlert

There’s a new fashion takeover in town – florals with a hint of dark! From black backgrounds to multi-coloured florals, there’s a whole lotta print for your winter mood.

Glasual – Glamourous and Casual, is the new way to define the floral trend of the season. With micro prints to OTT ones, all florals are in and nothing is left out. With a little French inspiration and a tinge of 70s botanicals, there’s colour, there’s detail and the tinge of Summer for all Autumn mornings!

The Look-At-Me Floral Fashion

Florals were taking on an edgy look this season with a timeless touch. While Dries van Noten added bold floral shades to velvet fabrics, Rodarte was true to their feminine style. With metallic fabrics, straight pants and head-to-toe flowers, there was a retro call-out that you couldn’t miss. Richard Quinn’s collection had all the mini-dresses and gowns that would definitely have worked out on some red carpets, meanwhile Tory Burch and Balenciaga went with micro prints dresses and blazers pairing them with boots. It’s winter after all!

One of our favourites? Valentino’s grey floral depiction on monotone outfits that added the autumn shades to dusk to dawn outfits. Erdem’s collection of mini-florals with sheer and lace fabrics, contrasting shades, gloves and headgear had all the accessorize-like-never-before feels to it. Anna Sui too, went with velvets, leather and both subtle & multi-coloured florals, for a holistic view of the trend.

Oscar de la Renta too, had all the femme fatale vibe, that too in bright florals. From embroidered patterns to gowns paired with tees, it was time to blossom in the Autumn Sun.

Celebrity Glasualness

The celebrities too were ready to bloom it up with florals! While Kelly Marie took a subtle floral route for her red carpet vibe, Dua Lipa’s casual-day-out floral was the perfect all day long look. From Aditi Rao Hydari’s casuals with cat, Alaya’s jacket addition to Daisy’s date night outfit, Kalki’s formal one and Nargis Fakhri’s flowy outfit, the florals were ready to be romanticized about.
