Utility meets Indiana Jones this season! From pockets galore to Earthy tones and yes, heels, it’s a new feminine-yet-confident style to try on!
The Safari style made a comeback this Spring Summer 2020, and after all the Bermuda and Tropical craze, this trend was bound to happen! With an easy to carry, full of Summer vibe and effortlessly cool look, this trend had a 70s revival feel with belted skirts, jumpsuits paired with tucked-in shirts in both prints and flowy fabrics.
Adventure in Poise
The ramps and runways were all about poised looks in cargo pants, gladiator shoes and jackets. Lots and lots of jackets! Inspired by the Military clothing of the late 19th century, it’s not about crisp drill clothing, but a little more Summer. and Dolce & Gabbana did just that. With a hint of Tropical to their explorer outfits, there were shorts, trench coats, jumpsuits paired with animal-print clothing. On the other hand, there was Erdem’s collection paired with scarves and cutwork patterns.
AWAKE Mode’s collection was the perfect combo of practical yet chic with off-shoulder outfits and cami-tops, while Alberta Ferretti added Safari hats to shades of Brown. Burberry, on the other hand, took a more feminine approach with bustiers pattern paired with prints and laces. Dior’s collection was a mix of tie-dye jumpsuits with utility jackets, that told us – there’s no need for a handbag anymore! It wasn’t just about being adventurous, but doing so in style.
Max Mara was acing the whole neutrals and practical scenario with their pocketful of outfits. With monochrome clothing, knee-length socks and heels, there was an air of poised adventure. Meanwhile, Jonathan Simkhai took the route of pastel jumpsuits with all the pockets you’ll ever need and oh-so-breezy fabrics.
Ports 1961 showcased neutral with print clash, while Stella McCartney offered oversized tailoring with exaggerated lapels and pockets. From Boss, Chloe to Fendi, there was an Earthy approach to it all with a no-frills look.
The SS20 Safari Uniform
After all the ramp love for effortless classic, the celebrities too were all set to embrace this trend. While the Hadid sisters were nailing this style both on and off-ramps, there was Zendaya taking on the red carpets. From Doina Ciobanu, Caroline Daur, Yuwei Zhangzhou to Alaya, Tara Sutaria, Priyanka Chopra and Kiara Advani channelling their Safari vibes.
